What are Custom Facials?

Custom facials can address a variety of needs ranging from premature aging and environmental damage to acne flare-ups to a dull and patchy complexion. If your complexion is causing you stress, and could use a pick-me-up, you may want to consider booking a custom facial with me.

These tailored treatments can cater to all skin types and may include deep cleansing, extractions, exfoliation, or more high-tech procedures such as peels and microcurrent. For an added treat, I offer a quick head, neck, and shoulder massage to complement the Classic Facial.

Good to Know
Before your facial begins, I will do a consult to acknowledge what type of maintenance is needed. If you don’t know what skin type you have—combination, oily, dry, etc.—don’t worry. We have you covered.

Estheticians are trained to recognize your skin type and will help you put your best face forward by creating a skincare treatment and routine designed specifically for you. Some treatments, such as Microdermabrasion, are most effective when performed in a series scheduled over a few months’ time.

Custom facials are a popular treatment in the spa industry and I am confident that I can tailor a facial treatment that’s just right for you.

Tips
Don’t be afraid to speak up—I’m able to suggest an at-home customized skincare regimen, along with helpful tips for your specific skin type, following a treatment so you can maintain your post-facial radiance. The solution for a clear, healthy complexion is to determine which products are right for you.

What is a Dermaplane?

Dermaplaning is a skin treatment that uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face. It’s also called microplaning or blading.

Dermaplaning aims to make your skin’s surface smooth, youthful, and radiant. This treatment can help to remove deep scarring from acne and uneven pockmarks on your skin over time. It’s also used to remove “peach fuzz,” the short, soft hairs on your face.

Dermaplaning can be used for most skin types and anyone with:

  • Acne scars
  • Dull skin
  • Dry skin
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Fine wrinkles

What to Expect
You don’t need to plan any downtime to recover from a dermaplaning treatment. You may experience redness or feel like your skin is slightly more sensitive in the next 24-48 hours after the procedure.

You may notice that your skin looks brighter immediately after you’re finished with a dermaplaning treatment, but it often takes a few days to appreciate the full results. As any redness subsides, you’ll be able to see the results more clearly in the days afterward.

Results of dermaplaning aren’t permanent.  After three weeks to a month, your results will have faded, as old skin cells build up over time and need to be exfoliated away.

After a dermaplaning treatment, you’ll need to be extra careful about sun exposure. Sun damage could create pigment blotches on your freshly uncovered skin cells. You should always protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF and in the weeks following a dermaplaning treatment, your skin is more sensitive to UV exposure.

What is a LED Therapy?
Do not use if you are on steroidal medication or Accutane.  Do not use LED over a pregnant belly, but LED can be done over the face while pregnant. Do not use if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures.

What is a Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions.

The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

A different microdermabrasion technique sprays fine particles of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate with a vacuum/suction to accomplish the same outcome as the abrasive surface.

Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colors. People might choose to get the procedure if they have the following skin concerns:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
  • Enlarged pores and blackheads
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Dull-looking skin complexion
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Melasma
  • Sun damage

Preparing for Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive procedure. There’s very little you need to do to prepare for it.

It a good idea to discuss your skin concerns with a skin care professional to find out if microdermabrasion is the right fit for you. Discuss any past cosmetic procedures and surgeries, as well as allergies and medical conditions.

You may be told to avoid sun exposure, tanning creams, and waxing for about a week before treatment. You may also be advised to stop using exfoliating creams and masks approximately three days prior to treatment.

Remove any makeup and cleanse your face before the procedure begins.

What is Aquadermabrasion?
Hydrodermabrasion is the latest innovation currently trending in the skincare industry. This amazing treatment offers the greatest technology to remove dry, dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin while simultaneously inputting hydro-serums onto the skin infusing it with ingredients based on the skin’s needs.

What is Microcurrent?

It is a non-invasive treatment that assists in diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving the texture, tone and appearance of the skin. Microcurrent uses low-voltage electricity to stimulate muscle, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) cell growth, and collagen development in the dermis on the face.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing
